Latest information for Lockington and Hemington
It has been another busy month for your Parish Council. Monthly Parish Council meetings are continuing in lockdown via 'Zoom' virtual meetings. Details are posted on the council Facebook page for anyone wishing to join. Below is some information that will appear in due course on the Parish Council Website and in Castle Donington Life Magazine.1.Industrial Planning ApplicationsThe council has held meetings with both SEGRO and NWLDC to share concerns on increased building height proposals on the EMG site application number 20/00718/FULM and have formally responded to the planning officer opposing the proposal. Residents are also encouraged to view and respond to applications at the NWLDC planning website.(https://www.nwleics.gov.uk/pages/view_planning_applications)2.Village Improvementsa. Improvements to the frontage of Lockington Village Hall are almost complete, which include new fencing, a flagpole, bench, re-positioned planter and boundary securing of the play area. A new gate is on order and we have the new defibrillator in place.b. The council raised the issue of grass cutting delays with NWLDC and these are now done.c. Dredging and clearance of vegetation from Hemington & Lockington brooks now look to be nearing completion.3. Community & Sports PavillionPlanning permission has been granted for this build. The committee is currently pursuing a variety of fundraising streams to enable the estimated costs to be met.4. Community Response Plana. Further to the recent heavy storms, engagement with the Environment Agency continues to work towards reducing the impact of flooding in the area and back flow of brook water into gardens/driveways, which was witnessed in both villages. Case number 1819322 has been raised.b. An important role within the flood management process is that of Flood Warden. We have opportunities for volunteers for this role. Lockington Village HallAfter many years of notable service, members of the current Village Hall Committee are looking to relinquish their roles. Discussions have started with the Parish Council to make arrangements for continuing to provide the facilities within the PC remit. Whilst details are being worked through, if any villagers are interested in supporting this valuable facility in the future, please let the clerk know at firstname.lastname@example.org. St Nicholas Church - LockingtonThe stile gate at St Nicholas Church (top end of Church Street) has been reported and hopefully will have much needed maintenance on it.7. SpeedingThe Speedwatch Campaign will hopefully still be going ahead in both villages at some point albeit in a reduced format. More information to follow soon.
